The Destabilization of the Anglo-Russian Contradictions in Europe (1856-1875)

The scientific sense and justification of a study of Anglo-Russian relations in 1856-1875 in this country is generally expressed in the close connection and dependence of our national history with these relations. Years before the War of Liberation, England and Russia stood as two historical antipodes in the drama of the Bulgarian national question. Unlike France, England did not recognize extreme opposites in her position in Europe. She stood invariably against Russian influence in whatever form it took. There was no political solution of any national and territorial problem in Europe in which the two countries did not take an active part. Especially in the Balkan Peninsula this political presence of England and Russia had almost always a decisive knowledge of the fate of this neuralgic region.
